Caring for aluminium cladding doors in the Saudi climate: a practical guide

Aluminium cladding doors don’t need much maintenance, but the dust and sun in Saudi Arabia make a few simple habits a big difference to how the door looks and works over the years.

Cleaning it the right way

  1. Rinse the dust off first with water or a soft brush — don’t wipe it dry, or the grit can scratch the surface.
  2. Wipe the door with a soft cloth, water and a mild soap.
  3. Rinse with clean water, then dry with a soft cloth.
  4. In the dusty season, repeat roughly every two weeks to a month.

What to avoid

  • Abrasive cleaners, rough sponges and steel wool.
  • Strong solvents such as thinners.
  • Holding a pressure washer close to panel edges and joints.

Pivots, hinges and locks

Keep the bottom pivot area in the floor free of sand and grit — it carries the door’s weight. If the door feels heavier, drags on the floor or no longer closes as smoothly, don’t adjust it yourself; call for service, as pivot adjustment needs tools and experience. Follow the lock maker’s instructions on lubrication, and on batteries for smart locks.

Before summer

Check the seals around the door once a year — they keep dust and heat out. If the door faces direct sun all day, a canopy over the entrance extends the life of the finish.

When to call for service

  • The door rubs on the floor or the frame.
  • An unusual gap appears between door and frame.
  • You hear noise as it moves.
  • The lock doesn’t close easily.

Common questions

Can I use car shampoo to clean the door?

Yes — a mild soap such as car shampoo is fine, as long as you rinse well afterwards and avoid rough sponges.

How often should I clean the entrance door?

Every two weeks to a month in the dusty season, less often the rest of the year, and right after a dust storm.
